Wisconsin Film Festival Sneak Peeks

At “Sneak Peeks”, film guides will be distributed and attendees will view a package of trailers that highlight the wide range of international cinematic programming available at Wisconsin Film Festival. Festival staff will share their in-depth knowledge of historical and current trends in international filmmaking and discuss the artistry and creativity of non-mainstream cinema. Attendees will be encouraged to reflect on the glimpses of stories and participate in guided discussions of cinematic storytelling.

Charlie Parker's Yardbird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker

The Life and Music of Charlie Parker. Join us for this informative and entertaining event featuring UW-Madison's Professor of Saxophone Les Thimmig.  Professor Thimmig will discuss the importance of Charlie Parker and the history of bebop jazz, and will also offer short musical performances!

This program is part of Madison Opera's Extending the Stage: Charlie Parker's Yardbird (performances will be 2/10 & 2/12).

Understanding Race and Criminal Justice in Wisconsin will provide graphical displays of trends in imprisonment and arrest in Wisconsin including comparisons between Wisconsin and the rest of the country and comparisons of different areas in Wisconsin. Pamela Oliver will discuss the various explanations for these patterns in the racial-political history of Wisconsin and the nation and will invite the audience to ask questions and contribute their ideas.
