In 2018 Micaela Sullivan-Fowler installed an exhibition called "Staggering Losses: WW1 and the Influenza Pandemic of 1918." Little did she know that the exhibition would be shuttered by another Pandemic, the one we are experiencing in 2020. She will give a short background on the exhibition itself, how the "Spanish Flu" affected our local populations and how the exhibition resonated for those who visited. Micaela will also touch on the similarities and differences between the two Pandemics.
This event will start out with Outrider’s 7 minute film When the Earth Moves and continue the talk stating why it was done, and how it contextualizes the past, present, and future of environmental action.

During the session, Dean Diana Hess will argue that despite significant and growing challenges to democratic education in K-12 schools and higher education, it remains a vitally important part of our mission.

An interactive discussion that's like a book club, but for plays. Staff from Forward Theater will lead the discussion and professional actors will act out scenes from the play.

Beyond the Ingenue: Trailblazers will perform selections from the entire revue by local, professional actors of new works commissioned from songwriters. The cast, production team, and academic experts will also host a post show discussion on the process behind the project and cultural significance of these historical figures.
HAMILTON: An American Musical tells the story of the founding of the country and the Revolution, while also commenting on contemporary issues in America today. With a soundtrack and script that fuses classical musical theatre and poetry with elements of popular music and hip hop, its storytelling both builds on the past and looks to the future. Sarah Marty, Faculty Affiliate at the UW-Madison Division of the Arts, will discuss how both Hamilfans and those new to HAMILTON will enjoy learning more about this award-winning show.
Lucas Koehler and his jass quartet, The Lucas Koehler Combo, will introduce you to five styles of jazz music including early swing, hot and sweet jazz, bebop, cool jazz and fusion.
