Literary Event

A one-hour storytelling event to tie in with the season and the community Halloween House event that is hosted on library grounds.

Learn how poets use their five senses by taking a literal (and literary) walk to Midvale School’s community garden and writing haikus about the experience.

Moisés Villavicencio Barras will lead the workshop. He is a Mexican poet, translator, and published writer. He teaches at Midvale School.

This workshop is for elementary aged children who are accompanied by parents or caregivers.

Celebrated Latina civil rights activist and foreword writer Dolores Huerta once said, "Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world." These are the stories of some of the Latina activists from Wisconsin who have lived Huerta's words.

Participants will gain a new perspective on what makes a play work and how it is brought to life on stage.
