Join us for an evening of delicious performances. Professional actors will perform five monologues about food, written exclusively for the Forward Theater Soul Food Monologue Festival. From a hilarious piece about a recipe for spiced nuts, to a moving struggle to find tolerance over Thanksgiving dinner, these monologues explore all the ways that food touches our lives, After the performance, a talkback will give the audience the opportunity to ask questions, and discuss the various topics these monologues have been written to address, all through the lens of "Soul Food."

Soul Food Monologues:

- "Beer is Food" by Sam White: A man faces a tough decision when his pregnant wife becomes sensitive to the smell of beer.

- "Door #1" by Lori Matthews: A mother uses food to impart some wisdom to her son as he heads to college.

- "Chocolate Lava Cake" by Jonathan Tarlin: When you’re sharing dessert, who gets the last bite?

- "The Family Feast" by Derek Aimonetto: A man seeks common ground with his in-laws.

- "Hot Nuts" by Kimberly Megna Yarnall: A man’s life is never the same after his first taste of a new recipe.
